That is beautiful...and why I didn't get some of the references, the ones I got were stunning in their originality and detail...I particularly liked Dumbledore's letter to the Longbottom's (never really thought about the fact that they would be in hiding too and their relief must have been mingled with guilt) and Sirius heartbreak as he goes looking for Peter and lastly, the line..."She looks at Ted with shining eyes, seeing peace for Dora to grow up in..." That is tragedy waiting to happen, that is!

Oh my GOD!! This was amazing...I have been too afraid to write a story like this--one that questions the similarities between Voldemort and Dumbledore--as I've gotten shit for what some would assume was Dumbledore bashing in the past...but this was clever and rich and I truly loved it!
Author's Response: It was really interesting to see people's reactions when I posted this in my fiction journal. The comments thread kind of evolved into this big indepth analysis of Dumbledore and his motives, and that was a lot of fun. One person on there who didn't believe Dumbledore could be so cold as I'd implied (but was very polite about it) was actually pacified when I directed her to my other drabble on Dumbedore, Silver, as it's the other 'side' of the coin, if you like, and neither interpretation invalidates the other. I actually felt quite smug about Silver, lately, as recent comments by JKR have made it far more in line with her interpretations of his character. I felt very pleased that I'd got it 'right'.
