This is such a great slice of Albus's life and love. I love the last lines, that even with as much as they had been through, it is immortality that binds them together.
There are also some amazing parallels in this to Harry and Voldemort and of Dumbledore and Tom Riddle. I especially saw it in the calm way that Albus faced Gellert in the beginnings of their 1945 struggle.
Beatifully done. It was a pleasure to read, repeatedly!!

Thank you so much for helping me shape this ficlet. I struggled greatly with it, for many reasons, the majority of that being my muse's inability to cooperate when I need her most.
I can see parallels to Snape and Lily more than I can with Harry and Voldemort simply because of the underlying message that love can be such a powerful entity it can edify or destroy you. Harry used love to defeat Voldemort who could not understand love and never experienced it. Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald, I believe, the same way, only his love kept him from destroying him. He could not detroy that which embodied the power that Dumbledore came to realize was greater than any Elder Wand or Wizarding Supremacy. Such a tragic past, he deserved happiness. He deserved a happily ever after and dammit... he deserved some Gellert action! ;)

OH MY GOD!! This was fantastic! I am so glad I took time out of my day for this! I love the repeatition of "Not so much now," and how you used it again so powerfully in the last line. I'm so glad that you made that almost sadisctic act pay off with the revelations of what had happened to Harry due to the Dursley's abuse! I really thought this was a bit of perfection. With pieces like this, I might actaully warm to the little ferret! Keep it up!
