I'm really eager to read your next chapter!  You write Harry and Hermione very well and I particularly liked the idea of Hermione knowingly toying with Harry's feelings in order to gain some validation for her feminine wiles.  A woman's sexuality is a potent force, indeed, but there can be repercussions.

I admit, I have a soft spot for H/Hr, because they ARE the most realized characters in the Potterverse.  I do find that the best fics surrounding their "discovery" of a mutual attraction are usually set in their post-Hogwarts days.  While canon might not support the pairing as teenagers (although a strong case could be made for their devotion to each other in DH), it is easy to see how their views would change as they grow into adults and develop an even stronger relationship.  I think the heart of the H/Hr pairing is that Harry always came off as more of an equal to Hermione than Ron ever did.  It is concievable that as they began careers and got older, Hermione would lose a bit of her preachiness and didactic ways, while Harry would start to notice Hermione as a strong woman in her own right and not just his sidekick.

Good story!

Author's Response:

thanks so much!  While I ship Hermione with quite a few other characters (and I have a serious soft spot for Harry/Luna), H/Hr are totally my OTP.  I love writing them, and it makes me so happy to know that some people think I write them well - that's such a nice compliment! :)

Anyways, I couldn't agree with you more about what you wrote regarding their relationship potential -- it's definitely why I love them so much.

thanks again! :)

I actually followed a link to your story on your lj and found it beautifully written.  I didn't realize you posted your stories here as well.  This was so dark and spare, and I felt for Harry every second.  I am slightly amazed how little the fanfics written post-DH have dealt with Harry's return from death in any kind of meaningful way.  It's such a rich subject to explore.  Thanks so much for giving us a look at the possible repercussions of Harry's return from the afterlife.

Author's Response:

Thank you! Posting my stories here is a fairly recent thing, which is why so few of them are up here.

Yes, the writing style for this is very spare, very different in a lot of ways to the style I usually write in. The idea just called to be written in that way. If I'd tried to write twenty years of Harry living in the forest and at Hogwarts, it just wouldn't have worked. I had to pick out key moments, pivotal points, and illuminate them.  Because he was his own so much of the time, dialogue wasn't an issue, and I think in a way it heightens the fleeting nature of time. For Harry, seasons are just flicking past without discernable change, while his peers are growing into middle age, getting married, having children.

I don't know why this idea hit me so strongly, but it did, and of all the odd times, as I was falling asleep. When I woke, it was still there and demanding to be written, so I did. It's probably one of the pieces I'm most satisfied with out of all the things I've written since starting to write again six months ago.

I think I may have read this before elsewhere, but that was achingly beautiful.  Harry Dies stories always kill me, but recounting the events in the series through Hermione's POV just added another layer of poignancy to the telling.

Harry giving Hermione a real kiss before he leaves just slays me.

Lovely work.

Well, it was an interesting premise, though I deduced the identity of the lovers before you spelled it out, but I'm afraid none of their actions make any sense.

If Harry and Hermione are so in love with each other after one shag, they would have no purpose to go after the ones they "need and want".   But to resolutely decide to cheat with each other on unions that haven't even developed yet, seems not only presumptuous, but completely irredeemable.  Neither Harry nor Hermione warrant such a trashing of their character.

You sort of amped the insult by having them "obtain" their true loves by such means as to render each unrecognizable.  If you love someone that much, their happiness is of great import to you.  You don't drag them away from their girlfriend and call her a bitch to prove your devotion to them.  H and Hr dialogue to each other is a bit insipid.  It has no basis in reality.  If you want to devise a way for them to practice sexual technique on each other in order to seduce their real objects of affection, then keep it platonic.

Sorry to be rough, but your main characters' feelings are insane.

This is pretty much a cumulative review, but I've read all of your other "Hermione's Journal" series (including your start on "PLans" over at TFT) and enjoyed all of them so far.  Hermione is not always my favorite character in canon---I mean, I can understand why Harry argues so fiercely with her when they differ on opinions of great importance---but you've tempered her voice somewhat in her first person narrative while still giving us the bulk of the stories.  It's not always an easy feat to make the exposition sound plausible, since much of the action that occurs is not always witnessed by her, and she is often relaying information via Harry.  But you still manage to keep her style effortless and entertaining.  It feels very much like a teenage girl pouring her heart out into the pages of her diary, but because it's Hermione, it doesn't become cloying or single-minded.

I'm curious about the ratings on these later editions, seeing as you've yet to stray from any of the canon details (other than Hermione's inner thoughts where you have free reign), but are you planning on deviating from the story structure once you get to DH?  I get a heavy trio feeling coming up.  And Hermione's hormones are starting to become more prevalent.

Hmm, I have to say, in the matter of relaying bad news to someone, it is usually the case for the most pressing information to be uttered first, before going into details behind the event.  Even though you are trying to keep the action in chronological, it doesn't particularly work in a journal format.  If someone dies, you don't build it up a half hour before delivering the news.  So, I don't think it would have been a bad thing for Neville to go over the list of injuries and deaths before Hermione would insist he begin at the beginning.  She would want the whole story, anyway.  I don't usually expect so much dialogue in a journal, either.  People tend to sum up conversations when writing them down.  But anyway, these criticisms don't mar the pleasure of the reading experience for me, but I'm wondering what drew you to this format with which to work in if you wanted to concentrate on those other aspects.

I enjoyed this.  Hannah sounded pretty hot and the sex was charged.  What I found curious was how Harry could be so lacking because he missed his NEWTS.  In terms of defense, Harry has always been quick to learn and master offensive/defensive spells.  The fact that he taught many of the Auror students now in his class in fifth year and they seemed to be better for it strikes me as an act they would still appreciate him for instead of resenting him for not going through due course.  And Harry has always been a natural athlete, as Quidditch proved, so I can't swallow him being bested by her continually.  Harry's quest to bring down the Dark Lord exposed him to things that his fellow classmates would not have come across during their studies, so I still see him having an advantage.  In fics where he's put on the fast track through the Auror program, the resentment usually comes from older officers who don't know him.  I would expect his classmates to be more supportive, no matter what losses and hardships they may have suffered during the war.  Interesting how you see Harry's  training, however.   Hannah has been interpreted in so many vastly different characters, but this cold, hard woman was worth reading.

Rowr!  Nice little interlude there.  I love the idea of her waking Harry up from his sleep that way, and using first-person narrative just makes puts the reader in Ginny's place that much quicker.  Harry is a sex god, no doubt.  I liked seeing her persepective of him.

Author's Response: Thanks!  I always like reading a story where I can feel like I'm "in" it somehow, so that was my goal with this one.  It's good to know someone thinks I hit the mark.  And yes ... Harry ... sex god ... I totally agree!

That was hot.

Don't usually find H/G all that interesting, but I liked how you took Harry from kind of innocent at the start to a profane little bottom by the end.  *smirk* I could totally see Harry enjoying that.

Nice job.

Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed!  Honestly, even though I accept the "logic" in Harry/Ginny, they aren't my fav pairing either ... but I'm finding that I do tend to write them if I write het because it's canon.

You know, I saw your name on it and I didn't really read the warning tags, so I was surprised once I got into the story and realized it was Weasleycest, lol.  But you did a great job with their relationship and how it felt for Ron to have an older brother queer like him, what a comfort that was, besides being attracted to him.

I really enjoyed your style.  Ron is so lovable in your story, I feel for him and all of his hardships.  Makes me want those two crazy kids to finally talk to each other and fall in love.  They're so sweet together--Harry and Ron.

Lovely job.
