Thank again for quick update. I have not mentioned that I really, really like Ginny in your story. I find that in the fanfic universe Ginny is portrayed as either an airhead, a whore or a jealous bitch when in the books she was nothing even remotely close. In fact Ginny was pretty much ignored throughout most of the series until JK decided to decimate Hermione to make Ginny more appealing, but I digress. Ginny is amazing in your story and I thought I should tell you. In fact I think she is the character I like the most, so far.
And now back to what keeps my interest in your fic: the mystery and the adventure. John is one sick puppy. His limp is very telling isn't it? My heroine was his lab rat? Oooh, please tell me he is going pay for this. More pieces of the puzzle are creeping but I don't want to speculate. I am enjoying your fantastic imagination and stellar writing.
Author's Response: Elena - Wow..."stellar writing" - I'm blushing profusely! Thank you from the bottom of my ink well! And thanks as well for the comments on Ginny. I've always liked her. I picture her as a true friend, loving sister and talented witch and that's how I like to write her. So, it's so nice to hear that someone appreciates my views. More to come soon!

The best one so far! John and Carrow together what a lethal, sick combination. My heart was beating at a million of beats a minute and I couldn't help from shaking on my seat. It was just such a fast paced chapter. Thank you for the update.
And thanks for having John getting some of what he deserves. I am enjoying this story very much.
Author's Response: Elena, I have to admit, I'm gloating just a little bit because I can remember how hesitant you were when you first started reading this. It appears I have you hooked!! So, give me a minute to bask in the glory of the moment! Thanks again - very much - for leaving me the review. I appreciate it very much.

You devil you, putting more obstacles between Hermione and Ron!
Who took the picture? But Hermione and Ron are not the reason I am still around.
I know this site is all about canon and if there was one thing I will never accept is Hermione and Ron together, sorry.
But your writing is stellar and the premise of the story got me hooked from the start. John is one lucky bastard and I keeping my cool because I despise him!
Diana surprised me. 'Better be thought of as a fool than being one' Who knew the girl had more than one brain cell!
I like your Ginny too. And Ron having to keep his distance may not be such a bad turn of events. Distance is what is needed to have a better perspective and he may find out more about John and his cousin from his desk. Who knows!
Now that Hermione is coming to being herself, kind of and hope she can help Harry, Ron and Ginny to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
Amazing plot, great writing. Waiting for the next update. Well done!
Author's Response: Dearest Elena - I'm all for everyone having their own opinion, but if the book said they end up together, well... However, nothing said it was easy and so it's left to us to put the obstacles out there and the joys as well! I have to say that despite anyone's opinions of how the characters match up, the comments that mean the most to me are the ones about the stellar writing. Wow, that just hits me right at my core. I do work so hard on these stories. They are a real passion. I spend days upon days reviewing to try and get everything right and I'm quite proud of what I publish. So, THANK YOU so very much for those comments! I hope that you'll be pleased at the end, despite how everyone matches up! Take care.

Thanks for the update. Amazing writing again, stellar, out of this world, fantastic! I mean every word I said. It was moving, exhilarating and with the right amount of suspense. I can't wait until the conspiracy is out in the open and we get the whole background story of John and his involvement with dark magic. Well done!
Author's Response: Dear Elena - Wow, I'm really feeling the pressure. Hope I come through with flying colors! <biting nails> THANKS!

This is very weird way to get these two together. I am more interested though, in knowing about the whereabouts of John and his demented cousin and getting to the bottom of this conspiracy and when and how it all started with more detail. A very good chapter. Thanks for the update.
Author's Response: Dear Elena - You'll hear from John more in the next chapter. I'll have more comments on this after the story is finished. Until then, I just can't give anything away! Great to hear from you!
Date: 06/12/2009 Title: Chapter 17: Chapter 17 - A Dichotomy of Life and Love
As I mentioned before, weird way to get these two together. So John and his cousin answer to a much powerful wizard? Did I miss something? I wished Hermione was more of the strong person I am used yet, I understand how all this would compromise her emotions. Maybe is the physical aspect more than anything else. She wants to read, to investigate hard to do when your sight is gone.
Hard as I tried to warm up to this couple I can't. I couldn't while reading the books and I don't think I never will. You do portray Ron, at least your Ron not JK's, as a nice man, more than a nice man, a wonderful man. Sometimes too wonderful. .
John, his cousin, the other wizard they answer to or is probably the mastermind of this whole mess is what keeps me coming back. Aside from my misgivings and preferences you are a wonderful writer and this chapter moved me. I am not converted but I still enjoy the plot.
Until next time,
Author's Response: Dear Elena - I suppose I'll keep trying to turn you, but even if I'm not successful, ultimately, I just want you to enjoy the story. I've always thought of Ron as a nice person. He's rarely done anything to sway my opinion otherwise. As he gets older, I also think his loyalty and dedication get stronger. He's maturing, perhaps a bit quickly. But being forced into these situations is bound to push things along a bit more. Not sure where you get the idea of the other powerful wizard from? If you mean Arty's friends? Well, he obviously isn't the only remaining "bad guy" out there. You know there are still former Death Eaters and Voldemort sympathizers who are just waiting for a chance to return to power. I'm sure Arty knows who they are and will utilize them when it suits his needs. Glad to hear from you again! Take care.

My apologies for the delay in reading the updates. Life gets in the way of my play time.
Once again you dazzle me with your wonderful writing skills. I have no more adjectives, really you are amazing! Yet, Hermione disapoints me and Ron proves once again that double standards are alive and well. 'I drank too much once or twice so well––But I have always loved you' Sorry I can't accept such a sorry excuse. The Hermione I used to admire would have never be so submissive.
I guess I can't warm up to this couple but it doesn't mean I am not enjoying other parts of your fic.
Author's Response: Dear Elena - Your compliments warm my heart. Even if you never warm to the story of the couple, I am still so encouraged by your comments about the writing. I will say that given the situation, the urgency and necessity, and the heartache that Hermione has already gone through, she would accept his apology and Ron truly is sorry for his actions. Remember, they weren't officially "together" at the time. In fact, Ron considered her lost to him and well, I must admit, men have a way of drowning their sorrows in less than exemplary fashion on occasion. Don't worry about the delay. I know how life gets busy. I'm probably the queen of busy, but it's great to hear from you whenever you get the time!
Date: 07/18/2009 Title: Chapter 19: Chapter 19 - Side Effects
Oh my! You are good, really good! My heart was pounding on my chest. I like the way you portray Ginny in your fic. Too bad we didn't have the chance to get to know Ginny better in the Harry Potter series but you do her justice.
Did I sense some kindness, remorse in John? Maybe he was terrified because of Arty's sico behaviour. I'm glad I have one more chapter to read.
Author's Response: You might be seeing a bit of shock in John. He may be learning a bit about Arty that he'd never seen before and its out of his comfort zone.
Date: 07/18/2009 Title: Chapter 20: Chapter 20 - Lust and Possession
Without words. Fantastic! Questions and more questions. What was Hermione exposed to? How did it affect her? What is it that John and his demented cousin had been working on? DId Hermione transmit her disease to some staff members at the Ministry?
Author's Response: Hermione was Apparated, levitated and then hit with a Stupify all in the critical hours/days after her bonding treatment. So, the magic that was reintroduced into her system was immediately stress tested and her body will have a hard time adjusting to that. Not sure what you mean on the "what is it that John and his demented cousin had been working on"? Hermione doesn't have any disease. She is not contagious in any way, but Ron is. Thanks again!

You know, I wouldn't mind a Muggle Hermione for a while. The subject has picked my interest. I must admit that I have not browse for fics in this site as much as i've done in others. I found you because your writing drew me in, we used to share the same beta and the premise of your stories were too good to pass. I am not a canon reader or writer so I tend to do most of my fanfic reading elsewhere which is where I'll try to find fics with Hermione as a Muggle just out of curiosity.
I haven't mentioned how you are portraying Ron. All his insecurities, his jealousies (forgive me but in the books that was obvious), the way he came to hasty conclusions and ended up losing his temper; all of it and more you've managed very well. Meaning, I kind of like him. Not with Hermione, that I can't forgive J K. for.
I was almost laughing with the scene in the kitchen as it unfolded. Harry's discomfort with Hermione, Molly's intrusion, Hermione's frustration. You are so good!
I enjoyed this chapter more, maybe because it was focused more on the mystery in the fic. Your talent as a writer and your amazing imagination are out of this world. Can't wait to follow Ginny to the Netherlands. Or learn more that very suspicious kidnapping. Great job!
Author's Response: Dear Elena, I have to say that you are somewhat of a challenge for me. I don't know why, but when I see your reviews, I read with great trepidation wondering if you'll like it. I guess I can't see Ron and Hermione any other way that what JKR has written. She is their creator so if they end up together, then I see that as the way it was meant to be. Yes, they seem very different, but I've watched so many couples who are completely different end up so happy together. So, I guess I just can't picture them apart. I'm glad you like my portrayal of Ron. I think he is a little bit of several of my old boyfriends before they "grew up." I can't thank you enough for the incredible compliments. This is not a fun week for me. I'm sitting in a hotel right now preparing for a funeral tomorrow and so hearing something positive is such a boost. Thanks again and I look forward to your comments down the road!
Date: 08/16/2009 Title: Chapter 22: Chapter 22 - Retribution
Sorry for the delay in reading this. I do like this fic best. So many variables, from the virus, Arty and the criminal investigation to the suspense of never knowing where you'd take us. Is the only I keep coming back. I don't like repeating myself but you are truly an amazing writer and although you know of my misgivings about one of the pairings I am glad I found you here. By the way, is the only place you write?
I hope you're feeling better after the funeral you mentioned. This hobby may help you I know it does to me.
Until next time,
Author's Response: Thanks so much Elena! You give me all kinds of warm fuzzies with those compliments. I liked writing even when I was quite young, but I never could figure out how to start. I think when I found this whole world of fan fiction (and being that I liked the HP series so much) this gave me a means to start. Right now I'm only published on this site and on Simply Undeniable. I've tried Checkmated a couple of times and each time I get the same "form letter" email back from them that they don't find my plot believable. So, I've just given up on submitting anything else to them as they are too frustrating to deal with. I also published one story on (hmmm...thinking) Fanfiction.net I believe, but I don't go there much so I'm probably out of date. I'm moving on a bit and am trying my hand at screenwriting now. The story I'm working on actually has quite a bit of potential and I have a partner with connections to those that might make it happen. So, we'll just see. I'm working on some original fiction also, but I do have a whole folder of HP story ideas. So, you never know. Thanks...funeral was rough, but we're all moving on. Take care!

I can't wait until John is out of the picture. Creepy! What's going on with Diane? I wonder if Arty got hold of the serum and is testing it with the poor girl. And of course Ron acts without thinking. Risking infecting people and not trusting Hermione, who by the way has always been smarter and much more cool headed than him. Forgive me, I have tried not to express my feelings regarding one of the couples in your fic. So I'll move on. I never heard of Simply Undeniable or Checkmate. I do know what a frustrating experience is trying to get one's fic approved by moderators a bit too eager and full of themselves. I had to delete my fic at Mugglenet because I couldn't deal with the rejection letters. FIrst chapter they were objecting the lack of explanation as to when and how the couple got together. First chapter! Then, it was the dialogue: I forgot the quotation marks in a few sentences! Then something else. After three chapters I deleted my fic. Best of luck with your screen writing. You have the talent, the imagination and the will. You mentioned I am a bit of a challenge to you. I hoped I have not offended you. I apologized if it is so. Great chapter! Thanks for the update and keep them coming! Elena
Author's Response: You'll hear a bit more about all of the other characters soon. No, please feel free to make any comments you like. I totally agree that Ron often acts without thinking, speaks without thinking, doubts himself and others. He has a lot of flaws, but underneath it all, I think he is a loving, caring, intelligent person. And I think Hermione, who has always been so attracted to education and ambition, is now finding out that the qualities underneath are just as valuable. And don't worry, you haven't offended me. It's been more like a mission to keep you entertained and wanting you to come back. So, I hope I've succeeded. Simply Undeniable and The Quidditch Pitch are both great sites, run by good people and I'm proud to be associated with both. My screenplay is coming along nicely. More to come soon!! Take care and enjoy the Labor Day weekend - assuming you're in the U.S. ~ Laurie

Poor, poor Diane. I disliked her so much at first and now I feel bad about it. I do hope Harry and the rest of the Aurors come to her rescue because Arty is losing it by the second. And John will get his just dessets, maybe a taste of his own medicine.
By the way. I enjoyed Hermione and Harry's talk. They are so at ease with each other is nice to read and you did it perfectly.
Author's Response: Ah! I replied back to you this afternoon and I just went in and found my reply is not here! It vanished! Oh, well...I am writing about magic. I suppose it seems appropriate. I don't recall exactly what I said, but I'll just comment that yes, a lot of people who disliked Diane before are now feeling a little ashamed. (I love to play with your emotions!) And I think you'll like the ending, at least hoping so. Several people have said they liked Harry and Hermione's talk. Thought I'd put in a little humor there! Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from you again very soon!
Date: 10/24/2009 Title: Chapter 26: Chapter 26 - Torture and Tactics
This may sound like a broken record but this was an amazing chapter. I truly enjoyed the scene while Ginny read with Ron and Hermione exchanging glances. The tension in the room was very well described. As I was reading I thought how much I am going to miss this fic. Truth be told I have not explored this site much, mostly because of reasons you already know so once I finish with your fic I guess I'll have to wait and see what else you'll come up with.
Author's Response: Elena, that's such a nice compliment. You have NO idea! I always feel sort of down after I finish a story. So, I imagine I'll feel the same with this one. Life is so hectic right now. I have two teenage daughters that keep me busy and I'm starting a side business in addition to my "day job", plus volunteering on two boards and then all the writing. It's amazing I get all of it done, but it's just so enjoyable! I'm sure something else will strike me in the not too distant future. I hope that I'll hear from you and all the other readers at some point in the future. So, thanks again for all your incredible support, thought provoking ideas and opinions. They truly make this a fantastic experience! ~Laurie
Date: 12/28/2009 Title: Chapter 30: Epilogue
And so it ends. I want to thank you for writing a truly amazing fic. The plot was unique and kept my interest. I can't help but repeat myself in saying that you are one fantastic writer! I recognized that the way you protrayed Ron did not turn me off but by the life of me I can't warm up to this couple. I couldn't in the books and I can't in fanfiction. However, the trials and tribulations they went through were realistic. If ever you feel the itch and write some more I'd be back for more.
John might find some peace and a few surprises along the way. Imagine, magical family and he didn't know. You did very well with Arty at the end. Sick bastard is going to have to bend over backwards (literally) if he is to survive in prison.
Thanks again for a wonderful read. Merry Christmas and a most blessed Happy New Year to you and your family. Until next time.
Author's Response: Dear Elena, You know, you've almost been my pet "project" in this story. With each chapter I waited to see what you'd think, sort of hoping to turn you on to one of my favorite couples. So, even if you aren't totally convinced, I think you at least enjoyed the journey and I guess that's just about as fulfilling as one can hope. Merry Christmas to you as well and I hope to hear from you again some time in 2010!! Laurie
