Summary: Harry's life was never easy, but it sure was simpler before he started seeing red. And he just knows that being stuck in a tent with his two best mates shagging every night is bound to send him insane. Then there's that whole hunt for the Horcruces, and eventual battle with Voldemort himself to worry about. Why can't he just catch a break, for once?

I like the tone of the story, and this chapter (2) was pretty funny and lighthearted.  Especially for a story with Harry performing a sexual ritual in public!

Author's Response: Thank you! So much of what I write is melancholy. This series was an attempt to write something with much more humour. That's not to say there aren't moments of sadness, but the series as a whole is pretty upbeat, and doesn't take itself too seriously. Naked stoned Harry painted in woad is possibly one of my favourite things ever.

Your description of the growth & explosion of Harry's climax in this chapter is massively sexy & really satisfying.  Hot, hot stuff.

Author's Response: Thank you! It had to be hot, but also kind of dizzying at the same time, because both of them are more than a little bit drunk, and neither of them is really wanting to think too much about what they're doing. It's very instinctive, despite the fact that Ron's 'planned' this to a degree. There wasn't going to be declarations of love on either of their parts, or marathon perfect sex, because they're seventeen and drunk and horny. A quick but nonetheless mind-blowing frot that probably took under five minutes was all they were up for. :)

Great, great chapter.  The picture - awesome, first time I've seen one in a fanfic!  A little Ron/Harry chemistry, interrupted by magic shooting stars & fireworks, then wrap it all up with the Tale of Snape.... great original ideas & very unpredicable.

Author's Response:

I actually used pictures in Chapter Three, as well, so I didn't have to describe Bryn Celli Ddu, and to show what an astrolabe was. And Chapter Four had a fabulous bit of art, created for me by dindalay.

Writing about fireworks vs shooting stars was a LOT of fun, and of course was drawn from canon. We know that Dedalus Diggle set off shooting stars in Kent when Voldemort was vanquished the first time (hence why the trio are camping out in Kent) but also that wizards love fireworks, which are a Muggle invention, based on simple chemistry. I liked theorising about why and how fireworks got popular, when the shooting stars spell is free, and simple to perform, if you've got a wand. Because fireworks are new, and flashy, and Muggle-origin, I can see them being popular amongst the younger generation, whereas older wizards like Ron's Uncle Bilius and Dedalus Diggle would prefer the spell, because of nostalgia, but also because of distrust of newer, Muggle-based things that have the potential to injure. This whole section also gave me a chance to write clever!Ron again. Though Hermione's good for facts and figures about important things, and obscure bits of history, there are big gaps in her knowledge of everyday things in the magical world. The shooting stars spell, because it's not 'useful', probably isn't taught at Hogwarts, but a child raised in a magical household, like Ron, would know of it and recognise it, even if he hasn't cast it himself.

The idea of Snape being the slayer of Voldemort came to me very, very early, back when this story was going to be a short one-shot. I had the first sentence of this chapter written back when it was only a couple of thousand words long, and I just had to keep tabbing it down more and more, as this story grew and grew. I loved the idea of Harry, rather than being relieved, being indignant that someone else fulfilled his destiny, and there's absolutely nothing he can do about it. He's done all the hard work, running around destroying Horcruces, and Snape has swooped in at the last moment and stolen all the glory.

I just wanted to write a few words about what I really liked about this story.  I’ve read a lot of Harry/Draco lately, and I love the ones where they are so ATTRACTIVE, they can’t stay AWAY from each other, but this story was something more.  I loved the way the whole plot set up a believable friendship & growing into relationship over time.  They have history, they have backstory, they have friends & other connections that gradually come out (Teddy, Andromeda, Dean, Seamus, etc).  They have reasons to be together and have future lives in common, like the philanthropy.

I liked the way Ginny bossed Harry into consulting with Draco.  I loved how Ron found Harry & Draco together & then gloated about how he knew about it before Hermione & how much she would hate that!  I loved that Harry was resistant & stubborn, but eventually admitted how Draco challenged & pushed him.  I learned what a pangram is.  I liked that Harry’s injury & the possible effect on his magic was very believable.  The Hogwarts painting was tremendous.  I loved the way Draco, obviously interested in Harry, makes him work to court him in the end.

Loved this turning point:

----------------

"Expelliarmus!" Draco shouted unexpectedly.

Harry was thrown back as his wand flew from his hand. Draco lunged forward and tackled him to the floor. He straddled Harry's thighs and pressed his wand into Harry's throat.

"Now tell me in what universe should I be able to do that?" Draco asked through labored breaths.

-----------------

It was very believable, and the relationships weren’t perfect, like real life.  You did a tremendous job with this fic & every Harry/Draco fan should read it.

Author's Response:

oh wow...

For me, reviews/comments are like candy.  Instant gratification that makes me all smiley about the work I did.  This review is like gourmet chocolate rasberry cheesecake with home-made whipped cream and served with a fine freshly ground espresso .  Thank you!  It's thrilling when someone connects with a story like you hope they will:D

Wow - enjoyed both stories.  I think a 3rd part is definitely called for!

I was pretty sure this was going to have a happy ending, but it was pretty cute, and I liked the structure with the "8 weeks before Harry learned the truth".  Good job.

Author's Response: Well, once you know me a bit better - you'll find that I generally like happy endings. Thanks for reading and commenting. I'm glad you liked the structure.
