I see that you wrote this more than two years ago, so I don't know if you'll even see this review, but I had to comment.  This story has really stayed with me, I keep thinking about it.  It was beautifully written, tragic, and such a different take on Remus/Sirius that I wanted to give you my compliments- I saw no one else had reviewed and had to leave one.

I love every single thing about this story, thank you for writing it!  I love the trio altogether, and you make everyone so lovable!  Love the Grangers.  I have never been able to forgive JK Rowling for killing Sirius, so I'm going to this of your version as what really happened.  Sirius is SO funny the way you've written him, and I love that he calls Hermione Clever Boots.  The Sirius-Tonks-Remus storyline is wonderful. Thank you!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! It's so lovely that the story is really hitting on all its cylinders for you! I can't tell you how grateful I am for the kind words.

Very funny, and an authentic survey of how their classmates would react.  Can't wait for more!  (Especially more Sirius!)

Author's Response:

Hmmm.... I guess I should include a DADA class in my next chapter, shouldn't I?

Thanks very much for the kind words! I really appreciate you for reading and reviewing!

Oh, I meant to ask before- will we ever find out why Sirius' patronus is a surfer?  That was genius!

Author's Response: Young Sirius was a devotee of Muggle culture-- witness the pinups in his room at Grimmauld Place. He was do ubtless moved by the nobility of Marvel Comics' Silver Surfer, and that image became a totem to him of protection and good.

That's what I thought when I read it- that's perfect!

Author's Response: Thanks so much! It comes about as a result of my having the thought that a patronus of the Silver Surfer would, in fact, be exactly like Norrid Radd would, himself, look, if he were real. Once I had that thought, concting it to Sirius came easily.

don't want the spell to be broken, and no Harry/Ginny, either, if you want to hear from a small, non-representative sample of your readers.  (Meaning just me.)  AND I want Sirius, Tonks and Remus to decide to do the spell too.  By the way, I really like that your Ron is very likable and actually brings something to the story.  I usually don't really like Ron too much in most fics, but you've made him a very admirable person in this story.

Author's Response:

I certainly don't want to give aany secrets, but I will tell you that your desires for the ending are more in line with my ideas than some others I've seen.

Thanks again for posting!

This is going to be interesting.  I know there must be more to it than lust, so I can't wait to find out what that is.

Author's Response:

Thanks! I've finished the whole arc, so it won't be forever before the whole thing is up. :)

This story is kind of like driving by a car wreck for me... I don't want to look because I hate seeing them all so hurt, but I feel compelled to because it's almost hypnotic.  I love Sirius, and feel terrible for him that he's lost his best friend and also is having to face this deep seated anger from James that must have been there for quite awhile if the curse wound is any indication.  I also feel like his best friends shouldn't assume he's just a shallow schmuck who couldn't possibly have deeper feelings for Lily.  Remus, by the way, is so right on the money with all of his insights.  It really works.

Author's Response:

I love the car wreck analogy. I'm glad the story is powerful enough to keep you reading! You are a very insightful reader to have picked up on the fact that James' anger must be deep-seated for the curse to work.

I'm glad you love Sirius. It was a risk, having him do what he did, because it is entirely possible to have the reader hate him, and then it's hard to bring him back. But don't worry. There is much much more going on between all of them than you can see right now.

And yeah - I love Remus. He's sort of my "conscience" in this piece - the one person who sees all sides and doesn't let anyone get away with any . . . crap. Thanks for reading and there will be more soon!

Cheers -

I love Sirius, his pain and his loyalty are just beautiful.  Can't wait for more.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much. It's gratifying to write something people really respond to. I love Sirius, too, and it's tough to watch him go through this. I'm glad you see what is really going on for him. I just submitted the next chapter, so more is on the way.

Oh, my heart is broken for Sirius.  Please help them, Remus.

Author's Response:

This is a tough chapter for Sirius. Thanks for reading and reviewing so consistently - it's great to have someone who is so . . . is enjoying the right word? . . . the story.

I definitely enjoy the story.  I think the reason it's so compelling is that I've always thought that Sirius is just a completely tragic figure.  He comes from a cold, unloving family and is shunned for being a good person.  He spends twelve years in Azkaban for a crime he didn't commit.  He's on the run for two years and then stuck in Grimmauld Place with Kreacher for a year.  Then suddenly he DIES.  The only happiness in his life is his amazing friendship with the Marauders for the time he's at school.  I think this story is so affecting because it creates a tragic aspect to even that part of Sirius' life.  It's strange to see James and Lily this way, but very interesting...

Author's Response:

That's a really interesting look at Sirius - I didn't think of that. Here I've gone, messing up the one area he had going for him . . . shame on me. :)

I've written another story (not posted yet) which is much less catastrophic than this one . . . still about Sirius, since I have a total crush on him, but much more funny and light. Nothing like this. But I can't seem to make it all fluff - no matter what I do, I end up having to have characters look at themselves and really see something . . . so even in this new one, Sirius doesn't get off scott-free.

Again, thanks so much for your ongoing reviews.

That was very interesting- I almost missed it because I hadn't checked the site for awhile.  I'm glad you had this chapeter, because I was beginning to find it hard to like James!  It was good to see a little of his struggle.

Author's Response:

Yeah - it was definitely time for James to dig into what is really going on for him. He's been doing a great job of blaming everyone around him for his troubles, but we all know how that ends. As a friend of mine says, "When you point the finger out, there are four pointing back at you." When I'm with this friend, I always point at him with all my fingers. :) :)

Cheers -

Poor Remus!  I love your characterization of him.  I really want to know how Sirius is dealing with all of this.  James is being a total prima donna- I can't wait to see why...

Author's Response:

Hee hee hee! Yes, James is being very prima donna-ish. Next chapter will explain a lot . . .

Thanks for the Remus props - I love him, and I've been having such a blast writing him, poor guy, in the midst of yet another James/Sirius screw-up.

I'm sending the next chapter in today, so hopefully it won't be too long before it goes up!

Thnks for sticking with the story! Sorry there's been this huge break - I'm editing a book I've written and it is just eating me for lunch.

Cheers -

I love this story, it brings a complexity to the characters that is so richly deserved and (forgive me) was missing in the canon.  I hated the "pat" epilogue- thank you for continuing the story in a way that isn't a cheesy "so they lived happily ever after" ending- this I can live with!

Author's Response: Obviously I had issues with the Epilogue, too, but I wanted to be compliant rather than just ignore it.  I'm glad you're enjoying what I'm doing with the characters.

Great updates on this, it all feels very natural for an unnatural situation.  I wonder if Hermione is going to start feeling left out, it seems like Ron and Harry are anxious to be with each other but there hasn't been too much of either of them lusting after her.  That would make me feel insecure, at least.
