- How did you get involved with writing fan fiction?
Good Lord...uh...after Half-Blood Prince, I was yearning for more Potter. I had done a search for HP websites and found RonandHermione.net and found some fanfiction through that site...lots of Lavender Brown and I just read and read. Then I thought “Hey, I can do that.” I have an English degree and always loved writing, My first fanfiction was “Down by the Lake” and was published at Checkmated a few months after I wrote it. I dove right into NC17 by writing “Future Plans” after reading a steamy post-Quidditch fic that I was steered to off RonandHermione.net.
- Who is your favorite Harry Potter character and why?
That's a hard one....I really like Harry, obviously. And Ron, Hermione and Ginny. And then there's Tonks, Remus, Mrs. Weasley....I'm not even sure that I HAVE a favorite.
- What was the most shocking moment of the HP series?
It's got to be a tie between the death of Hedwig, Dobby, and Remus and Tonks. I had to read Hedwig's death three times to really let it sink in that she died. Dobby was just...heartbreaking. I sobbed both times I read it—I even went back and reread his death and burial again just to make myself cry. Finally, Tonks and Remus had so little time together and the fact that they left behind Teddy in the world they died to save was just terrible. I think that was the only time that I really hated Jo.
- If you could ask JKR one thing what would it be?
Dang....I want to know more about the Weasleys...what happened with Percy...did he become Minister? Did he marry Penny? I could go on and on with questions about the family....
- Who are some of your favorite fandom writers
Velvethope--she is a true friend and my smut teacher
LunaLovePotter--she told me that my smut inspired her smut...which really shocked me...so she's a 2nd generation Velvethope writer
LisaRene--she hasn't written much in a while, but I had the pleasure of betaing for her and she really has a gift.
Solstice--what can I say about Shari that hasn't already been said? She makes me cry, she makes me laugh....And she trusts me with mute!Ron...
Fizzmonkeys, BelovedRanger, Alloy (kisses up to the SALM—mwah!!),LavenderBrown, MrsPadfoot, Shocolate, MissElisha, SaraEK...so many others
- What is your writing fetish? Any kinks? Any Squicks?
a. Coitus interruptus is always a hit for me. MapleMahogany pointed that out to me and when she did, I realized I had written like four stories in a row where that happened in one fashion or another.
b. I have never really written any kind of kinks that I can think of, other than the interruption thingy. Someone more “worldly” might be better suited to tell you that.
c. I cannot write gay or trio sex. I wrote trio last Christmas for the drabble exchange and nearly gagged the whole time I wrote it. I felt dirty. I must have done something right because it won...Now THAT really made me pee my pants.
- What advice would you give to first time writers?
Like all writers, start with something you know. Perhaps the easiest thing to write is a missing moment, simply because the basics are laid out for you already and you can put your own imagination into the book. Also, find someone to help you out and bounce off ideas from whether it be a good beta or a friend. Lastly, read and reread the books. Absorb them. They are your best resource.
- What was your favorite "Harry Moment" in Deathly Hallows?
Why are you making me think so hard? Hahahaha...”Oi! There's a war going on here!”...Going into the forest and meeting his parents, Remus and Sirius.
- Tell us something interesting about where you are from.
I live in an area that has like ten lakes. When other people learn where I live, they ask me, “Oh, you must go fishing and to the beach all the time.” I always answer, “Um, no. We live here.”
- What character is the easiest for you to write? Which character is nearly impossible?
a. Harry—Simply because his voice is what we hear throughout the books.
b. Luna—She is so out there and I never know how to write her so that she is true to character.
- What is your earliest memory?
Playing Barbie dolls at the foot of the stairs with my mom's eyeshadow around my entire right eye.
- Give us five ways you’d use the Imperius Curse.
1--To make my children behave.
2--To make my husband be a better lover.
3--To make President Bush bring the troops home and admit it was a grave mistake to go there....”Mission Accomplished” my ass....
4--To make Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint visit me and all my friends and just hang out with us.
5—To make publishers give MissElisha a book deal.
- Give us five recreational uses for Veritaserum.
1—in answering the question “Do you like me?”
2—giving it to President Bush (I have issues with Dubya...can't you tell?)
3—using it to find the million dollar case on “Deal or No Deal.”
4—using it to find out what my mother-in-law really thinks of me.
5—using it on my kids
- What is your favorite food and would which famous person (non-HP) would you most like to share it with?
Orange Chicken and I'd like to have dinner with Morgan Freeman.
- What inspires you to write?
It's the ordinary things in life that I'd like to see the characters go through. I have a hard time inventing problems and uber-thrilling plots. I like to think about how Ron and Hermione discipline their kids or what they do on their anniversary. I like to think about what Remus and Tonks did in their short time together. I also take things from my own life.
- What type of environment do you like to write in?
I write in one of two places...on the couch on the laptop...in the living room with paper and a pen.
- Who are your favorite real life authors?
I really don't have any. I go by recommendations from friends most of the time. I enjoy reading historical romances by Johanna Lindsey and she is probably the only author I seek out.
- Give us three things you love about fandom and why.
1—The wide variety of ideas and theories because it makes me and everyone else think. 2—The weirdness of it all because REALLY these are books... 3—The fact that Dan and Rupert are in it...do I have to explain this one?
- This is a standard question: Why does Simons_flower keep killing Ron? Is it to torture Annie?
I believe that SF has an inane desire to inflict mental anguish on not only the lovely and innocent Annie, but everyone else in the fandom, in much the same way that Shari insists on hurting our dear young Weasley. They can't help it because they love him.
- What have you gained from Fandom?
Friends, an alternate reality, an escape, sharpened writing skills, more imagination, appreciation for literature and friends...did I say that already?
