One of the best I've read; you have paid attention to the ages of the boys and their companionship.

Author's Response:

Thank you!

I really wanted their emotions and reactions to be age appropriate, especially in the 'early' years. I'm particularly proud of the sections for first and second years of Ron and Harry's friendship. It's so easy to forget that they're just eleven and twelve years old, then, and that the twins are only fourteen in the second. They'd behave like kids, not young adults, because their emotional responses to things are coloured by their limited life experiences. Ron has trouble conceiving of a situation where a child could be beaten and locked away and unfed, because though he's poor, he's never been neglected. It's a rude shock for him and Fred and George, and one that elicts an incredible sense of protectiveness in the three of them towards Harry.

Lovely and touching!! Each moment had a plethora of quotable loveliness, so I'll just say, Great Job!

Author's Response: Thank you! I really wanted a 'snapshot' of each year, from meeting to the aftermath of the war, and each moment had to be both unique or a 'first' in some way, but also had to signify where they were 'at' in terms of their relationship with each other.Probably the year I wrestled hardest with was Third, and I'm still not one hundred percent happy with it.

I love this story, Ron does belong with Harry and vice versa. Amazing Job.

Author's Response: Thank you very much! I really wanted to explore their bond, especially with an emphasis on canon moments. I 'play' so often in AU worlds, so writing something much closer to canon was a lot of fun. Their bond is there, and it's a strong one, whether they're best friends or lovers.

Well, that was different.  Nicely written and in keeping with their characters very well I thought.  Could be interpreted any way you see fit but in the end it explores the kind of relationship that two schoolboys who grew up together and went to war would have.

Well done.

Author's Response: Thank you. It is very different to other things I've written in the past. I enjoyed skating along the fine edge of canon, working in and around it until I came up with something that could be completely canon-compliant or AU, depending on which way you read it. Really, it doesn't matter how you read it, because the bond between them is what's important, not whether they're romatically involved. I see the two as seperate issues, because canon Ron and Harry have an incredibly deep bond. They go through something life-changing together, fight a war at a young age and do a lot of incredible and terrible things to survive. That's  going to bind you close to someone, because the only person who can understand exactly what you've been through is someone who was right there beside you.

Wow - that was beautiful, especially the ending.  Loved how you weaved cannon with your own interpretation of their relationship.  Very well done.

Author's Response:

Thank you! I wanted to make star54kar's Ron-A-Thon fic something really special, and she was wonderful enough to give me a list of prompt words and pretty much free rein to write what I wanted. The result wasn't quite what I'd planned originally, but sometimes these things write themselves the way they want to be written, and you just have to go with the flow. I loved working so closely with canon and shining a different angle on certain events.

I also loved making it so open to interpretation. I love Ron/Harry as a ship, but this fic can very easily be read as a friendship fic. It also has the benefit of being completely canon compliant, but also compliant for AU as well. The scene at the end could be two close friends, recuperating from the aftermath of war, or two friends-becoming-something-more recovering from war and testing out the boundaries of their relationship.
