Absolute genius. I love all your stories, I don't know if I could pick a #1, but if I DID, this might be it. On the one hand I hate you for torturing my boy Ron (figuratively & literally), but on the other hand you are a genius writer AND you get why Ron is so awesome. I LOVE how you showed - so subtlely, so gradually - how the other boys came to depend on him and his spirit.
I also want to compliment you on the bravery of killing off some of the boys - but not in a gratiutious way. The deaths felt real, they hurt, but they never seemed unlikely or unnecessary. I nearly cried for Viktor, Colin & Dean, for real. You had me on edge SO MANY times during this story...just, brilliant work!

Jaysus, Mary and Joseph, what a thing to be reading at 1am!
Oh, this Ron, this Ron, this Ron of Rons!!
*blows nose violently*
Author's Response:
Any harm to your nose is not the fault of the author ot any of her characters. *disclaims*
Glad Ron had his mouse with him again!

I got so hooked on this story I couldn't stop reading! I stayed up until half one in the morning to finish it, and now I have cleared my mind, I can say how fantastic it really is. Spectacularly written, emotionally charged, horrifying and humorous by turns and with the textbook definition of a bittersweet ending, I am deeply impressed Solstice. I nearly cried when Krum and Colin were killed, for instance- they were so close! You really make us engage with the characters, something few writers are able to do, let alone pull it off believingly. Well done!
PS. ...and no, I don't think it's too long at all.
Author's Response: Thank you!

OK- I absolutely love your work.I resisted reading this story for the longest time because my mind came up with some scary things that could happen to the boys and I figured that you would come up with worse. You did!! This story made me feel every emotion possible- sometimes all at the same time.
As usual it was brilliantly written. You are a freakin genius and I absolutely love your writing. Sad, sad story- superfantastic writing!
Author's Response: Thank you!

Arghhh!!! You killed me! I normally think about the author behind the story, but I totally forgot I was reading, and I seemed to think it was real. It all just flowed like magic.
So fucking beautiful!
Author's Response: Thank you *crushes you with squishy hugs*

You seem to relish sadism, very sad.
Author's Response: You seem to have missed the point.

Seriously...how do you sleep at night?
Incredibly disturbing and lovely at the same time. No criticisms come to mind, but then again I just finished it and haven't recovered yet. One of the best fics, if not my top pick so far. Takes a good bit of effort to drag out the emotional rollercoaster without that "over the top" feeling that tends to come with a lot of fan work. And lots of the moments were all the more gut wrenching because you didn't dwell on them and run them into the ground. This isn't much of a review I guess really (and sorry dutiful writers-I don't usually write them), but I wanted to leave a note to say how much I really appreciate the time and effort that went into this one.
Author's Response:
Thank you.
It was a big cast of characters to cope with and I'm glad to hear I pulled it off.

That's a very interesting start, I'm definitely intrigued! And like all your stories, it's brilliantly written. I'm off to read the rest.
Author's Response: Thank you and I hope you enjoy the rest!

my gosh...where to begin?? first off i am african american so no offense taken with lee's torture scene. ok. this story is hands down the best story i have ever read on the pitch. this was a magnificent read. i was hangin on every chapter. i was on pins and needles with the characters every moment they were in captivity. the story pulled me in held me there and didnt let go until i finished the epilogue. wonderful!! a wonderful story. i'd take off my hat, but i'm presently not wearing one in the house. i wish i could go on and on about how magnificent a read this was but i'd probably bore u to death. lol. i was nearly in tears when i thought that ron had bought it, but again, u held me right on the edge til the end and i love that in a good story. bravo again to u. bravo!!
Author's Response: Thank you for your review and I'm really glad you were with the boys all the way through. I think people screamed at me over this fic more than any other *lol*

I still cannot get over how wonderfully creative this fanfic is! How much research and time did it take you to plot out and write the entire thing?
Author's Response:
I had three betas (one for the Dutch) and that made it the longest time to write anything I've ever done. On the one hand being slowed down by beta readers frustrated the hell out of me but on the other it did give me time to let the OCs really become cared about (or feared).
I had the ending in my head from the start, the reveal with the hood coming down, and my plan was for only Ron, Lee and Tommy to survive. I had what I called a death list written out and a floor plan of the cells and who was in which one.
As I wrote it I realised that Tommy had become too ill and had to be written out of the cell block story so Fergus got saved simply because of his position on my death list.
I think the planning wasn't as intensive as other stuff I've done (time travel fic involves lots of notes!) because I had all that time between beta feedback to think on the next part.
I'm glad you liked it and it wasn't too harrowing a read. Thanks for reviewing!

This was one of THE BEST Fanfics I have ever read! Honestly! I could not stop reading it. You are one talented artist! Thank you for writing this.
Author's Response:
Thank you for that.
I just watched a TV show I got a script rejected for and needed a bit of bolstering.
*hugs*
This was a tough one though. Getting people to care about one OC is a hard job in fic but I had about 20 and you had to care enough to grieve for them. I am very proud to have managed to do it well enough for so many of you.
Thanks for reviewing!

this story will haunt me for the rest of time. that is how good it was. i loved it. i loved the twist ending. it was beautiful.
Author's Response:
Thank you very much.
It was hard with so many OCs and so many people to make you care about as they spend all their time in one location but the story wouldn't leave my head and I had to put it out there.

Outstanding - Well worth the sleepless night.
I loved that you gave characterization to characters that are usully overlooked, like Charlie.
A sequel would be much appreciated.
And if you need an extra set of eyes for editing, feel free to ask!
Author's Response: Glad you appriciated the large cast, there were so many to keep track of *lol*, the sollow up fic is posted in full here. It's called Without Walls.
