Viridian is a shade of green, IIRC.  Therefore, Harry was making brown-eyed Ginny a dead ringer for his green-eyed mother.  That isn't as shocking as it seems, you know.  They do say that all men marry their mothers (or dead ringers thereof). 

However, I'll bet that Ginny won't be pleased when she realises the implications. ;-)
