Submission Guidelines and Terms of Service
(also known as The Quidditch Handbook)

For category guidelines, use this reference.

Chapter 1: Knowing The Playing Field

A. Subject Matter
...1. The Quidditch Pitch will review stories containing the following material on a case by case basis:
......a. Beastiality
......b. Necrophillia
B. Shipping
...1. The Quidditch Pitch has no limitations on shipping
...2. The Quidditch Pitch has a zero tolerance policy on ship bashing/flaming. If you are found continually guilty of this you will be banned from the site.
C. Beta Service
...1. We have several beta readers (aka Quidditch Assistants) on staff.
...2. All authors agree that any publishing of fics is subject to beta.
...3. Beta service is free and is needed to keep the quality of the site at the highest of standards.


Chapter 2: Rules Of The Game

A. Spelling
...1. Any story that misspells a major character's name, house name, or any other important HP element more than three times will be rejected.
...2. Any story that has more than ten spelling mistakes per 1000 words will be rejected.
Stories rejected for spelling errors can be corrected and resubmitted.
B. Grammar
...1. Any story that has more than 25 grammatical errors per 1000 words will be rejected.
...2. Major errors include but aren't limited to the following:
......a. Incorrect use of punctuation
......b. Incorrect capitalization
......c. Incorrect use of ellipses
......d. Incorrect use of quotation marks
......e. Incorrect verb tenses
......f. Incorrect use of the passive voice
......g. Incorrect punctuation of dialogue
......h. Netspeak
......i. Author's note appearing in the middle of the chapter will be automatically rejected.
Any story rejected for the above-mentioned items can be corrected and resubmitted.
C. Content
The Quidditch Captains can reject any story they deem unfit for the site. This is purely subjective and stories rejected for unfit content cannot be resubmitted.
D. Quality
...1. Errors in quality include, but aren't limited to:
......a. Lack of original plot
......b. Clumsy sentences
......c. Too choppy
......d. No explanation of the characters being out of character (OOC)
......e. Original characters with no development or background
.........(i) AKA Mary Sue and Gary Stu. Please check your original characters (OCs) using the following tools: Definition of a Mary Sue and Mary Sue/Gary Stu Litmus Test.
E. Ratings
...1. Ratings guidelines:
......GP - General Public - Stories suitable for anyone
......FG - Family Guidance - Stories suitable with parental consent
......FG-13 - Family Guidance-13 - Stories suitable for 13 years or older
......MT - Mature Themes - Stories suitable for those 16 or older
......RT - Restricted Themes - Suitable for at least age 17 or the legal age of consent in your country
...2. The Quidditch Pitch accepts stories that are rated GP-RT.
...3. Any story rated RT must be hosted in The Broomshed.
The Quidditch Captains may change a rating on a story at anytime, if they deem it necessary.


Chapter 3: Scoring

A. Length
...1. All stories must be a 1000 words in length (this includes one-shots but excludes both prologues and epilogues of any chaptered fic).
...2. Exception to the above would be Drabbles and Ficlets
......a. All drabbles must be posted to the special section under each category
......b. All drabbles must be at least 100 words and under 500
......c. Ficlets are to be 500 to 1000 words
...3. Length excludes:
......a. Author's notes
......b. Quotes
......c. Song lyrics
B. Plagiarism
...1. Any author who plagiarizes another author's work:
......a. Will be given a written warning and the offending piece will be removed and stored for future reference
......b. Any author who has been given a written warning and commits a second act of plagiarism will be banned without warning and the Captains will alert other sites
...2. Plagiarism includes:
......a. Copying word for word another author's work without the author's permission
......b. Copying a substantial part of another author's work without the author's permission
......c. Paraphrasing another author's work without the author's permission
......d. Passing off another author's work as your own
...3. The Captains will decide if a work is construed as plagiarism
...4. All Pitch authors are subject to this policy
...5. Policy is subject to change
* The exception would be quotes from the books or references to the books. *


Chapter 4: Teamwork

A. Submissions
...1. Authors may submit a total of 4 Chapters in a 24 hour time period. (This includes one-shots.)
......a. Any excess will be deleted without notice
......b. Ensure your story is formatted correctly (use "Preview Story" to verify this)
......c. The summary and title must be rated GA - no exceptions. This includes the stories in The Broomshed
B. Publishing
...1. Any author who spams the story queue with multiple uploads of the same story or chapter will be sent a warning
......a. If you are unsure if your story made it to the queue please email The Captains
.........(i) Please allow 2 business days for a response
...2. All stories are reviewed by the Quidditch Captains
......a. Please allow at minimum of 24 hours before emailing to check status
......b. All stories that are rejected will have a letter sent to the author detailing why the story was rejected
......c. When your story is accepted and posted you will receive an email
...3. All stories submitted must have clear warnings and ratings. The Quidditch Captains can add warnings if applicable
...4. If an author does not update a story within a four-month time period a letter will be sent asking if they are continuing this story. If there is no response, stories will be deleted from the archive


Chapter 5: The Referee Is There For A Reason

A. Change of Policy
